For a good helpful useful grown dog…

My puppy is learning that what I say I mean…

How do I accomplish this?

Example:

Tonight I had the dogs sit for their presents. (my few acceptable leftovers from lunch) Mostly consisted of a few bites each. But enough to teach sit, stay, be patient and wait your turn…

Then it was bed time…Which meant crate time in the basement tonight. All but my pup went into their crates. Puppy RAN! Yeah! Can’t have that behavior…

1. I caught her and gave her a little shake by the base of the tail (no words) . Dogs must all ways come when I say to! No Exceptions Ever!

2. Then I took hold of her collar and led her to her crate.

3. She resisted as I put her in the crate!  I put her in firmly but nicely… and shut the door.

(Little pups can be corrected firmly , fairly and as needed, and I believe quietly) But they cannot be allowed to do as “they ” please . And that is what my girl was doing!  She knows better…And I affirmed her knowledge! LOL!
I did not get mad or upset…In fact I had to keep from laughing out loud because I know this stage of puppy hood very well! It passes quickly for most if handled properly.

I left her with something to think about…as she drifts off to sleep…
