I think it very important to allow a puppy to go places with me. (I start them young)
I take the puppy with me on the farm and other places as well. If I leave the farm and I do…I am careful where I allow the puppy access to the ground. Because the puppy is not fully vaccinated until 5 months of age when the Rabies kicks in…
I also believe that the puppy should be part of the normal daily goings on of the farm (or home they live in) This allows for teachable moments.
Today my puppy helped me move sheep out of the pasture into the yard for some free range green grass.
After the chicken incident in the barn I figured I should see what impact that had on her. Well this pup was right with me at my heels until needed to help. Then she went to the sheep and moved them. Now I reinforced my “Leave it that will do” and that is all I said.
I was very pleased with my pup and the rain and cold did not phase her! She was all about the work! Not the weather!
