I spend a lot of time with my puppies from the time they are born.
When I have a puppy to raise for my self …I spend as much one on one time as possible.
This week I have had my puppy out and about with Drover and I. I take the puppy to the sheep pens in the evening and we sit and watch the lambs play… I encourage my puppy to come with me on its own. I allow it to move and explore on its own and I keep a watchful eye out for the pups safety…
Today we were lambing all day. I did not allow the puppy to be around the ewes at this time till latter this evening. (after the ewes had settled) The puppy went to the sheep pens with me…and checked the lambs out and the ewes…The pup had respect and watched and learned.
I do not restrict my puppy from being a puppy…I allow it to learn from trial and error…I guide where and when needed otherwise I am quiet. The puppy has the freedom to be a puppy!
Before I go to bed …The pup and Drover will go back down and check on the sheep with me.
