With Gatherings, vacations, and other events you may be attending with your dog this summer and fall, below are some things you should consider.

  1. Water for your dog(s) – take what your dog is used to drinking

  2. Food and food bowl
  3. Crate and shade for crate
  4. Collar and leash
  5. Do not allow your dog to touch noses (a way that disease is spread).  Be sure to wash your hands or use hand sanitizer after petting dogs.
  6. Take your dog’s shot records and be up to date on vaccinations and knowledgeable about diseases common to the area you are visiting.
  7. Flea and Tick preventative
  8. Dog poo bags (use them no matter what the rules are) and dispose of properly.
  9. Ask hosts about any disease or problems that are common to the area you are visiting, or that the area you are visiting may have recently experienced.  (Example – ticks)
  10. Take a list of any meds and the meds your dog may need, and an emergency first aid kit (just in case.)
  11. Be careful when traveling in and out of the vehicle.  Watch out for your dog even though it is on leash.  It can still get hit by the car backing up beside you!  Also be careful where you stop to potty. Stop every 3 hours or as needed.  I try to stop in places I think are not popular dog potty areas and walk my dog.  (Don’t forget to pick up that poop.)
  12. Keep your dog on leash and under control.  Be aware of what is going on with your dog and other dogs around your dog.

Be safe and have a great vacation!
