I use to worry all the time…Where is my puppy? What is it doing? I can’t let it out of my sight…etc…

Today Les and I worked in the pasture with the sheep about us…(we built a shed for the sheep)  The puppy  and all my dogs were out and about with us in the same pasture.

Yes I noticed where she was and what she was doing. I did a  check on her from time to time… But I let her be a dog. Learning to be out and about. To take care of herself. I never once told her what to do. (she was good)  I did not worry…I let her explore…If I had seen trouble I would have stepped in…I just let my puppy be a puppy. Have fun , play, run, explore, called her and she went with me every where!

At some point in the afternoon she was missing…I went to the house and she was in her bed asleep!

My point is: It is good for you and your puppy to let it be free to learn how to jump a ditch of water on its own, and how  to explore,  how to get out of the way , etc. if you keep a watchful eye out and know that there is nothing in the area that can possibly harm your puppy. You are there… just not hovering , directing and helping all the time!

We had a great day.
